Meet Me

Hello and welcome! I’m Trisha, and I’m so glad you’re here. I am someone that wears many hats – mainly that of wife, daughter, dog mom, nurse, and amateur chef. I have been married for 10 years and a nurse for about that long, too! Yes, that’s right, My husband knew me during nursing school and STILL married me! He’s a keeper. I currently live in Arizona after being a Michigander for most of my life. I came here for a 13 week temporary job and just never wanted to leave! So here we are. To answer your next question, yes we have survived the summers…barely 🙂 We have 2 dogs, Buttercup and Emma. They’re so sweet and such a joy to have in our lives. We’re obsessed dog parents.

Key west

Here is my husband, Mark, and I in Key west. We took a family vacation and it was so much fun! This was at the Sunset Pier.

My mom and I on the same vacation from the left picture. We went running together every morning. These memories will last a lifetime.

Running

Running has been in my life since I was about 12 years old. I watched my mom train for her first half marathon and I realized that humans can do pretty amazing things if they set their minds to it. She, in my opinion at the time, was the fittest and fastest person. No questions asked. I may have been a bit biased, but sometimes that might be ok. In high school I dabbled a bit but was never too serious.

Fast forward to adulthood. I made the decision to train for a 10k. There was no plan whatsoever – I just decided to go for a run and gradually increased by long runs weekly. Soon, I made it to 8 miles for a long run and I couldn’t believe it! Like, who even is this girl? So, instead of running the 10K I was training for, I signed up for and ran my local half marathon. I executed the race terribly and suffered from mile 3 on…you live and you learn, as they say. I have yet to run a 10k…..

This was my first (and only…so far) Boston Qualifying time from the Mesa Marathon! Felt terrible. Ran great. Sometimes even bad races end up good!

Since then, I have completed 4 half marathons and 4 full marathons with 1 DNF. My favorite of them all, hands down, was the Bayshore Marathon. It was not my fastest, but I had THE MOST fun that should be allowed when running 26.2 miles. Already (1 month post race) I can’t wait to go back.

Goals

I want to help in the running community in some way. As a novice runner, I sought advice from many sources regarding training, racing, and nutrition. Shoot, without Hal Higdon’s training plan, I probably would not have finished my first marathon! The information gleaned from other runners was priceless. While some of the advice did not work for me, so much of it did. So, what are my goals here, you ask?

  1. I want to provide a safe, positive environment for all runners to learn (including me!)….because let’s face it. We ALL have something to learn.
  2. I plan on becoming a certified run coach in the next 6 months.
  3. To help runners improve – broadly speaking. Improvement looks different for everyone. Personally, my biggest achievement in the last 12 months has been improving my mental game. It has made a huge difference in my running and everyday life.
  4. I would love to break 92 minutes in the half marathon and 3:15 in the full. There’s work to be done. But I’m laying the groundwork now.

I’m thrilled to have y’all here. Please reach out on social media or see the contact me page. I’d love to connect!
